TEXT IN KNITTING
Woven through these pieces are fragments of my Dad’s handwriting.
“in the heather” is taken from a letter written to my Grandpa, carrying with it a trace of memory and connection.
Through this work, I reflect on the different ways people navigate grief. “when time holds its breath at dawn” is drawn from a poem my Auntie found solace in — words that offered space for healing and understanding.
This piece draws on Scots words, translated into Norse Runes, used to describe the harshness of Scottish weather — smirr, mist, dour, and sump. Together, they evoke a landscape shaped by damp air, cold light, and shifting skies. The dark palette reflects this atmosphere, echoing the moody stillness of the Scottish landscape.
